And then there are the candles, lighting them just elevates lunch or dinner up a notch. I was brought up in a family that lit a candle at every dinner time, it made the conversation around the table just feel really special so I personally don't feel like I could host without. They create a calm, warm atmosphere that invites everyone to slow down and stay a while.
